HavenDOS 0.8.1: first stable release, now boots on real UEFI hardware
HavenDOS 0.8.1 boots directly on a UEFI laptop with no CSM, rendering its own interface through a framebuffer.

HavenDOS 0.8.1 is the project's first official stable release. On 9 October 2026 it booted and showed its setup interface on an HP laptop with UEFI firmware and no legacy BIOS/CSM support.
What's new
- BIOS and x86-64 UEFI boot paths in one ISO, using GRUB to load the 32-bit kernel.
- Framebuffer rendering, so HavenDOS no longer depends on legacy VGA text mode.
- Desktop, Shell Mode, Safe Mode and Install to Disk boot entries, plus diagnostics for firmware and framebuffer setup.
Known limitations
- No native NVMe support yet, so installing to the laptop's SSD isn't possible.
- On large screens the interface uses the top-left area; scaling is still in progress.
- Some strings in the image still say "Beta".
- "Stable" is the release channel; HavenDOS remains a hobby OS with limited hardware support.
