HavenDOS 0.8.1

HavenDOS 0.8.1 is the first official stable release. It now boots on real UEFI hardware without CSM and renders its interface through a framebuffer.

What changed

  • BIOS and x86-64 UEFI boot in one ISO (GRUB + Multiboot, 32-bit kernel)
  • Framebuffer rendering on UEFI hardware; preferred 1280×800 with fallback modes
  • Boot entries: Desktop, Shell Mode, Safe Mode (no mouse), Install to Disk, plus firmware/framebuffer diagnostics
  • Demonstrated on an HP laptop with UEFI and no CSM on 9 October 2026
  • Known limits: no NVMe install yet, interface uses the top-left of large screens, some strings still say Beta
